Custodian Squad

These miniatures come from a video archive I stumbled across on my Instagram when creating this portfolio. They were my first introduction to the Adeptus Custodes from Warhammer 40,000.

There's nothing particularly groundbreaking about the armour recipe: metallic gold, a wash of Agrax Earthshade, followed by silver drybrushing to bring out the details. But where these models really shine is in the finer details.

The bases were made by cutting up spare sprue to create a brickwork effect, depicting the Temple of the Saviour Emperor. The power weapons were another first for me, and I had a great time experimenting with the electrical effects across the blades.

Unfortunately, the images here are a little blurry, as they're screenshots taken from a video. You can see the original over on my Instagram for a better look!

I still get the urge to add more banana boys to the collection, and if I do, I'd love to revisit the Custodes with a non-metallic metal (NMM) paint scheme. It would be a great opportunity to see how much my painting has progressed.
